How much eSIM data do I need?

    Estimates use typical rates: browsing & messaging 0.1 GB/day, maps 0.03 GB/hr, social media 0.4 GB/hr, video 0.7 GB/hr SD or 3 GB/hr HD, video calls 0.5 GB/hr, plus a 20% buffer. Your apps may use more or less. Hotel Wi-Fi assumes streaming and half of social use happen on Wi-Fi.

    Rules of thumb

    • Light user (maps + messaging): about 0.2–0.3 GB a day.
    • Typical traveler with some social media: 0.5–1 GB a day.
    • Streaming or hotspotting a laptop: 2+ GB a day, so look at unlimited plans.
